Philip Eugene Clark, a loving father, husband and “Papa” to his precious grandchildren, passed from this life on Monday, February 8, 2021, after a lengthy and bravely fought battle with illness. Growing up in West Texas, and attending Kermit and Andrews High Schools, Philip and his wife, Deborah, founded their home and their life in Odessa, Texas, where they raised their three children.
Philip was a fervent fan of Permian High School football and all things MOJO, the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a true lover of the springtime, when he could put his “Master Gardener” skills to good use, and his gardens were always beautiful and well-kept. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and some of his happiest memories were of youthful fishing trips to Red Bluff Lake with his parents, and yearly “Boys Trips” to golf, fish and share time with friends. He had a special place in his heart for Northern New Mexico, and he and his wife could often be found in Santa Fe or Taos enjoying the Southwestern heritage which he was so fond of.
Anything Philip had a passion for, he gave more than 100% effort to. He also “never met a stranger”; he was very likeable and made many fast friendships with those he came into contact with. His work ethic was unmatched, and he could often be seen running around town on one of his very many daily errands. He was forever available, at any time, to help his kids in any way he could, and he would do anything in the world for his grandchildren (who he spoiled frequently), who were the center of his existence in his final years. He deeply loved and was fiercely proud of his children and his grandchildren, and took every available opportunity to show that pride and love.
He was loved by all who knew him, and his loss has and will continue to leave a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, his three children; Christopher and wife Stephanie, Jeremy and wife Danielle, and Joshua, and his beautiful grandchildren Madelyn, Ameri, Claire and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Clark, and his younger brother, Robert, and his mother and father-in law, Juanita (Mamo) and J. Lee (Dado) Smith.
