Michael Lynn Johnson, age 76, passed away on December 12, 2023, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Roby, Texas to Olan and Jo Nell Johnson. Michael, also known as Mike, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Mike was a kind and thoughtful individual, most often putting others before himself. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his quick wit. Mike was a deep thinker and a problem solver, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a trustworthy and honest person, and his generosity knew no bounds. If you had a problem, you could always contact him and if he didn't have a resolution for you right then, he'd certainly think of one and call you back.
In his youth, Mike attended Permian High School. Following his graduation, he served in the Air Force for four years from 1967 to 1971. It was during this time, he married his wife of 56 years, Andra Rae Culpepper in July of 1967.
Throughout his life, Mike wore many hats. He worked as an auto parts salesman, owned a restaurant, served as a fire department dispatcher, and later became a self-employed safety consultant, real estate investor, and owner of an RV park. His versatility and adaptability were evident in his successful career.
When not working, Mike enjoyed pursuing his hobbies. He had a passion for antique cars, old tractors, and frequently attended car shows and auctions. He took great pride in his pine trees, oak trees, and rose bushes, nurturing them with care. Most of all, Mike loved making people laugh and always had a joke or a funny comment ready to share.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Andra Culpepper Johnson, his son Jerry Johnson, his daughter Sherry Padgett (husband Cory), and his grandson Caleb Padgett. He is also survived by his brothers Gary Johnson (wife Marynan), Randy Johnson (wife Mechelle), and his sister Juanell LaFevre (husband Jerry). Mike also had a dear friend, Jimmy Bounds, who spent the last two years by his side, providing unwavering support and assistance. Jimmy's dedication to making Mike's land beautiful with trees and flowers was a true blessing in both their lives.
