Beth was born on November 19, 1945, in Odessa, Texas to Leo and Violet Bell. Beth was a graduate of Permian High School, the class of 1964. She went on to graduate from Nursing School and earned her R. N. Degree from Odessa College. Beth excelled as an R. N. and later became Director of Nurses at Medical Center Hospital where she retired in 1989.
Beth met and married the love of her life, James W. Brantley on November 14, 1970. Beth had an endearing love for her family.
Beth leaves her sons, Jeffrey Hawkins of Arkansas, William Brantley and his wife Sarah of Arkansas and their two children, Jace and Jessica Brantley & her daughter, Jennifer Brantley-Shahan of Tuscola, TX. Beth was affectionately known to her beloved grandchildren as “OMA”. Her sister, Paula Shahan of Abilene, niece, Patricia Zeitler, nephew, Rick “The Man” Shahan, great nephew, Ryan Anderson, and dear friends, Mike and Surina White.
Beth was a vivacious, energetic mother, sister, wife and friend who was the heartbeat of her family. She was a beautiful person who gave unmercifully of herself to her patients and all who knew and loved her. Therefore, the family would like to invite all who loved her to join them in a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. R. J. Patel, Dr. Sudhir Amaram and the Staff of Regency ICCU.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations to be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice House of Odessa.
Today I cried, not because I was sad, but because the world is such a beautiful place and life is so short. We love you, Beth.
