Marshallene Turner Perez passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in Odessa, Texas. Marsha was known as a caring wife, an involved mother, and a generously doting grandmother. She was born September 18, 1937 in Eunice, New Mexico to Marshall Truman Turner and Nona Belle Smith Turner.
Marshallene grew up helping around her grandparents' dairy farm, Turner Dairy,
which they owned and operated in Eunice from 1935-44. She graduated high school in New Mexico and married William Robert “Bob” Nessel. Marsha gave
birth to their first son, Marshall Robert Nessel, March 22, 1962 in Eunice. She had
their second son, Randall Curtis Nessel August 4, 1964 in Florence, Arizona. The
family moved to Angola, Indiana, where Marsha worked both at home as a mother,
and in a doctor’s office as an impeccable bookkeeper. She and her sons moved to
Odessa, Texas in 1978. She then began working at Ruthco Inc. where she met her
second husband, Nicolas Perez, who she married March 3, 1984. They both were
active, contributing members of the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. Marsha
enjoyed her retirement by taking road trips with Nick to visit the nation’s landmarks. She spent her later years living in Lincoln Tower caring for Nick and
collecting pictures of their grandchildren.
Marsha is survived by her husband’s children, Dolores and Michael Saar, Nicolas and Pat Perez, Donald and Kathy Perez, and Marco and Rachael Perez, as well as her son’s widow, Priscilla Quintanar. Marsha was a devoted grandmother to Joseph Perez, Christopher Hoover, Alexander Perez, Eric Perez, Gregory Perez, William Perez, Isabella Perez, Taylor Ham, Ryan Nessel, Kelly Nessel, Preston Sly, and Michael Sly. Marsha’s legacy is celebrated by two great-grandchildren, Ava Nicole Perez and Serana Ham.
Marsha is preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas Perez, and her sons, Marshall R. Nessel and Randall C. Nessel.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 5-9 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10 AM with graveside services at 1 PM (2 PM CST) at Brunson Memorial Cemetery in Eunice, NM.
