Margarita was born in Marfa Texas on December 26, 1926 to Ramon and Maria Teresa Quintanar. She was the eldest of 10 children. She married Refugio (Ray) Mata in Mara Texas and shortly thereafter moved to Odessa. Her life calling was to be a wife, mother, housewife and grandmother. Margarita was a lifelong Catholic who had a deep devotion to the Blessed Heart of Jesus.
She is survived by her sons: Ruben and wife Mary, Glenn and wife Socorro, Fernando, Ricardo, and Alfredo and wife Bea; daughters Yolanda Mata and Maria Teresa and husband Raul Juarez, and Hilda Mata, brothers, Ramon Quintanar and wife Irene, Ismael Quintanar and wife Maria, and Jose Quintanar and wife Linda, sister Catarina Orosco, 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Maria Teresa Quintanar, husband Refugio (Ray) Mata, sons Ray Mata Jr and Mario Lionel (Lee) Mata, grandson Ray Mata Ill, brothers Roberto Quintanar and Frank Quintanar, and sisters Elena Ohara, Consuelo Molina and Hilda Conner.
Public visitation will be on Monday March 13, at Odessa Funeral Home from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. Rosary will be on Monday March 13, at 7:00 P.M. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday March 14, at
10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Manuel Madrid, Jonah Ontiveros, Ruben Mata Jr., Marcos Mata , Ray Thomas Mata , Ricardo Mata , Daniel Ornelas and David Mata.
