Margaret Lucile Moore was born to Calvin W. and Angelina Capp on August 7, 1919 in Rhome, TX. She graduated high school in 1936 and from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was joined in holy matrimony with Kenneth E. Moore by her father on August 11, 1940.
Lucile is a Christian and a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, having joined with her husband in 1960. She was a schoolteacher for 35 years in Hobbs, New Mexico, Goldsmith, Texas and for the last 20+ years of her career taught 2nd grade at Dowling Elementary of Odessa. She was a strong believer in education and has many “little second graders” out there running around today that read and comprehend very well as a result of her persistent efforts with them. Her husband of 58 years, Kenneth E. Moore, predeceased her in May, 1999.
She and Kenneth were long time Odessans and have many friends at the First Baptist Church, the ECISD and at Phillips Petroleum Company, where Kenneth worked for 43 years.
Lucile has been a resident of Parks Samaritan Village of Odessa for the last 5 years after having suffered a debilitating stroke. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Anderson of Odessa and her son, Ken E. Moore and wife, DeAnna of Houston, grandson Jerry Anderson, Jr. and wife, Lynette of Odessa, grandson Cary Allen Holt and wife, Lori of Ft. Worth, grandson Bill Anderson and wife Patricia of Odessa, granddaughter Stacy Blackwell and husband, Shawn of Austin, granddaughter Molly Hernandez and husband, Rodney of Odessa, granddaughter, Amber Tipton of Houston, great-grandchildren Jerry Don and wife, Cassie, Ashley, Laura Ashley, Betsy, Ryan, Tommy, Kristin, Madison, Morgan, Madison and Riley Grace, along with two sisters, Mildred Tacker of Waco and Euna Lee Fawcett of San Marcos.
There will be a visitation from 7 to 8:30 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jess Little of Sunset Heights Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Anderson, Cary Holt, Bill Anderson, Rodney Hernandez, Shawn Blackwell, Jerry Don Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Tommy Anderson.
