Lillie was born in Lingo, New Mexico to the late Lester Cleveland Owens and to Minnie Elizabeth
Owens. Lillie's mom was an excellent cook, but instead of cooking like her mom, Lillie had to go outside and help her dad work the fields, driving the tractor and picking veggies. She enjoyed lots of different jobs. She drove tractors and 18 wheelers and cut down trees with chainsaws. Then she tried waitressing and while waitressing, she met her husband Joseph Perryman. She was the waitress and he was the cook at Hobo Joes in Hobbs, New Mexico. They were married in 1974 after just 7 days of dating! They were married for over 40 wonderful years. She loved her step kids that she inherited.
In later years she sold Avon and had her own snow cone truck. She was a proud member of the nonprofit BPO Doe's. Also a member of Home League at the Salvation Army.
Her favorite things were her family, friends, pets, and going to church. When she found out she was going to be a grandma, she packed her bags and moved from Hobbs, New Mexico to Odessa, Texas. She did not want to miss anything, she said! She said she had the best son-in-law because he always helped her when she needed it.
She loved taking kids to church. One night, she took 49 kids to church for a kid's crusade. When she started staying home at 90, my friend would pick me up and leave her son, Josh, to "babysit" and then they would laugh and play with Alexa. Her favorite TV show was wheel of Fortune so you knew where she would be at that time of day. Judy, always wished she could have been a florist and her home was always filled with beautiful floral arrangements. She also loved James Garner movies, westerns, gospel and country music. When I was young, my mom bought me a nice organ, hoping I could play some good music, but it turned out my brother was the talented one.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Travis fails; her daughter Judith Jealene "Genie" Meyer, son-in-law, Thomas Meyer and 3 grandsons: Patrick Meyer, Mike Meyer, and Matt Meyer; Three great grandsons, Thomas Meyer, Greyson Meyer, and Ryan Meyer. Stepson Richard Hamlin: Four children, two grandchildren. Jay Hamlin: three children, four grandchildren. Stepdaughter Joleen Birt: Two sons, four grandsons. Geria Wellborn: four children. Rhonda Davis: three sons, three grandsons. Sister Linda Riley and brother-in-law John Riley, Sister Lois Smith, cousins Bunch, and many more family, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Lester Owens and Minnie Owens, her brother Emmitt Lee Owens, sisters Lela Surginer and Dorthy Owens, and stepdaughter Barbara Rackley.
