Larry “Lil Larry” Segovia, age 47, of Odessa passed away Friday, October 10, 2014. He was born June 4, 1967 in Odessa, Texas to Dulces and Josefa Segovia. He is a 1986 graduate of Odessa High School. He attended classes at New Mexico Jr. College in Hobbs, New Mexico on a baseball scholarship. Larry was a dedicated season ticket holder for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He also dedicated time to umpiring little and Semi-pro leagues along with additional duties on the field.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dulces Segovia, and two sisters, Nancy Salazar and Delma Segovia.
Lil Larry is survived by mother Josefa Almanza Segovia of Odessa; four sisters, Delia Flores and husband, Ruben of Odessa, Texas; Sylvia Ortiz and husband, Enrique of San Diego, California; Alicia Segura of San Diego, California; Priscilla Llanez and husband, George of Odessa, Texas. Larry is also survived by ten nieces and nephews; and ten great nieces and nephews.
A memorial dedication will be made in his honor at the Dallas Cowboys stadium; as Larry would say “How ‘bout them Cowboys”.
Visitation will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Rosary will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass Service will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with Father Michael Rodriquez officiating.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
