He married the “light of his life,” Jimmie Jean Cooper, November 5, 1949 in Granbury, Texas. He joined the Navy in 1951 during the Korean War, serving on the aircraft carriers USS Bataan and USS Essex as an Aviation Machinist. He was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone for 37 years. Harold was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church for 61 years where he served as a Deacon and went on more than 20 mission trips.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jean; son, Don and wife Syliva; brother, Stanley Keeney; 7 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dee Armstrong; mother, Ollie Keeney; step-father, Floyd Keeney; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10 AM at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
