Frances L. McRae

Frances is survived by her children, Dana Pittman, of Gun Barrel City, TX, Jimmy Don McRae and wife, Gail McRae, of Midland, TX, and stepson, Charles McRae of Poteet, TX; brother, Robbie Lee Smart and wife, Christel Smart, of Odessa, TX; sister, Linda McClure, of Odessa, TX; grandsons, Logan Pittman, of Midland, TX, Cody Pittman, of Portland, ME, and granddaughters Christina McRae and Taylor McRae of Poteet, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Billy McRae; mother, Myrtle Lorraine Smart and father, Emmett Lee Smart; sisters, Billie Fern Williams and Mona Faye Stokes; brothers, Philip Dale Smart, Emmett Laverne Smart, and Jimmy Muriel Smart.

Frances was born on January, 9, 1936 in Foreman, AR to Emmett Lee Smart and Myrtle Smart. She attended high school in Arkansas and continued her high school education in Odessa, TX after moving to Odessa with her family in 1951. At the age of 15, Frances began her first job as a carhop at Dairyland. She married Billy McRae in 1968, in Odessa, TX. She was a homemaker when her children were small. Later, she became an assistant manager at 7-11. Frances enjoyed sewing and made clothing for her children, Dana and Jimmy Don. Other hobbies included collecting coins, reading, making ceramics, and listening to music. She frequently talked about meeting Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison. Frances was passionate about Jesus and read her bible, often. Throughout her life, she explored many different religions to learn more about Jesus Christ, and finally found her calling in the Baptist Church. Her children remember her as a supportive, loving and dependable mother who encouraged them to pursue their talents. Frances was loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed.
