He was born on September 9, 1939, in Big Spring, TX to Fred and Edna (Hunt) Barton. He grew up with two sisters, Minnie and Carolyn. While David was attending Andrews High School, Elvis Presley came and performed in the auditorium. He was not too sure about the guy that wiggled and made the girls scream.
David met the love of his life, Pat, at their apartment complex swimming pool. He befriended Pat’s daughter Tracy by throwing pennies in the shallow end for her to dive for. David was only hoping for a home-cooked meal, but that led to a wonderful 54 years full of love.
David was Vice President of The Bosworth Company for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing golf at Mission Dorado with friends and traveling to couples’ tournaments. David was also devoted to the Midland College Basketball teams. He attended all the home games and traveled to all the away games. David will be remembered for his love of family, friends, and the way he enjoyed life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Russell Leak.
David is survived by his wife, children, Daylan (Wendy) Barton, Tracy (Jeff) Leak, Darren (Dawn) Barton; grandchildren, Christopher Barton, Ashlee Fife, Erica Daylona Young, Kayla Howell, Dylan Barton, Logan Barton, Mackenzie Barton, Morgan Barton; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church, 4142 Faudree Rd, Odessa TX 79765. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hubbardkellyfuneralhome.com for the Barton family.
