Oh, Bobby Wayne Davis!  I really want to call you the grandpa of the City of Odessa, but I don't know if that name is already 
taken.  I wish I could remember the exact numbers, but I know your retirement came after way over 40 years of employment with the city: first with the Odessa Police Department as an officer and a sergeant, and then as a dispatcher.  You took care of us dispatchers, always cooking and bringing huge batches of your homemade "cheese and macaroni" which could "make your tongue lap your brains out".  Even after your retirement, you continued taking care of us, mixing up 2 gallon containers full of waffle batter so we could easily make fresh waffles any time of day or night with the dispatch waffle maker (which I assume you left for us to use).  It wasn't just dispatchers that you spoiled like this.  You made gigantic batches of brownies, divided them up (2 to a ziplock bag), and then filled up a walmart sack with these brownies, carrying them around town with you while you made your rounds.  Running errands, going out to eat, checking on dispatch, whatever... you always came bearing gifts.  The gift was always food, but the food always brought a smile.  With your gifts, you brought amusing conversation (and let me tell you, you could TALK). You were a storyteller. A great one.  Sometimes, I would sit there, knowing you were about to tell me the same story I've already heard 99 times, but I wouldn't stop you because 1) I knew you loved to tell it and 2) it was still enjoyable to listen to on the 100th time.  You were adamant that 
people should live life to the fullest: always eating what you want and doing whatever makes you happy.  You really, really lived, 
bringing joy to so many people in the process.  You would think people would be prepared to lose someone of your age, but it was honestly a shock.  You were still venturing out on your own, being social, and having a good time. I will always strive to have your outlook on life.  I love you!

It’s hard to believe such a fine man is gone. No more jokes and stories to tell us. No more hugs.  I worked with Bobby 20 years in dispatch. We laughed and talked and made memories that last forever. 
My Mom worked with Sonja as a realtor and so I always knew of them before actually meeting.

Uncle Dub, 
You are the best uncle a girl could ever ask for. You are truly my favorite person.  I could sit with you for hours and listen to music and watch videos in your back room for hours on end. You never let me leave your house without some cookbooks and goodies in tow. You are a wonderful role model. My kids just adore you just as much as I do. Karlie doesn't like many people but she loved you so much. Kaylie thought the world of you and listened to all the stories and can tell them word for word. Dylan couldn't come to town without going to see you. He was so excited you had the chance to meet and play with Ranger. I know those are memories he will cherish forever. We will all miss your face so much. But smile knowing you Sonja and lil Cliff are together again. Love and miss you already. Give everyone a big hug. Love you...

Bobby Davis could get your attention on the police radio with the volume  turned all the way down to zero.   He was a great man and  always enjoyed laughing along with you and sharing goodies with you.  He would go overboard to help anyone out.  I enjoyed my years working with him at OPD.  Having been an officer himself he always knew what we needed to know before arriving on the scene.   We will miss you friend!  Prayers for your family!

Bobby Dub was my brother in law.,but more like a brother.  He was the heart an sole of our family. The kids in our family  loved him an look up to him. Bobby loved music  he played in a band for many years.my sister loved him with her hole heart they married when she was 15 .now he's  with her again an with Cliff also .BOBBY he didn't wont us to be sad but to have a party for him. So for now its see you latter gater

What a pleasure it is to have known you. You will truly be missed.  You are  one of a kind good friend and such a wonderful work husband.  I can remember when we became such and how we got the title..  I'm so glad I got to talk to you the day before your home going. You will be missed by so many especially me.. even after you retired you would still come to see us in dispatch and bring goodies to share and sit and chit chat and give big hugs before you left. I'm gonna miss my hugs, but so glad you are home with Sonya and Cliff. Now go dance around heaven and walks the streets of gold like there is no tomorrow.

i have always loved  bobby, sonja & cliff since i was a young kid. my parents would visit back then (marie & bill provance). 

Well Unc, Our hearts are breaking at the thought of losing you, but at the same time we are so happy that you are finally home with Aunt Sonja and Cliff..boy what a celebration that must have been. I can just hear you yelling "hot dam I made it" We had that talk alot.  We sure had some good times at all those Concerts! Suzy Boguss and Jimmy Fortune will always remember you! Our family always shared a love of good music. I will sure miss our talks and all the wonderful stories about our mama and daddy and Becky and Sherry and Cliff when they were little. Uncle Dub..Bobber Dub(he got that name from fishing with a bobber at Sherry's house!)  was the happiest, most carefree and generous person you would ever meet,but he could tell ya what he thought and wouldn't sugar coat a thing! He told me he lived his life to the fullest and had no regrets. That he did... He was one of a kind and to know him was to love him. I'm so thankful for the wonderful day we all spent together at Terra's wedding! I first met Bobby when I went to work for OPD. Bobby was always a great Sgt. He was a friend that you were proud to have had the honor of knowing, and working with . A great and wonderful friend who will be so missed. You wore the whit hat and were such a story teller and now play that bass with some of your old buddy’s snd friends you used to pick with. We will meet again and I’ll join in that old group and say move over I’m a picking with the old guys. So honored to call you my friend forever.  Love you and will miss you. Larry lindley

Bobby was a great friend, co-worker,  and man.  He always made breakfast for us and brought food to his dispatcher friends.  He was a great cook.  I will miss him very much.

Sgt. Bobby Davis was as fine a man as you would ever want to meet. 
I enjoyed working for and with him through his time at OPD, He had an amazing personality that made him everyone's friend.  God's speed Sarge.

My great grandfather was an amazing man. 5 minutes with him and you would smile, have a laugh and a friend. He was married to the love of his life and he would be so proud to tell you about her. He had a great love, a love like you see in classic movies. They had a wonderful son together, that he loved so very much and was so proud of and let it be known. He has a family that loves him dearly. There is not a memory I have of him were he isn’t making me laugh. He was not scared of speaking his mind, a ‘tell you like it is’ kind of man with a golden heart. My grandpa had a wonderful life and he would tell you himself. The stories he would tell me! I will miss those stories, miss his laugh, miss him talking about his true love and how proud he is of his family. I will miss hearing his adventures and hearing his southern slang, which alway put a smile on my face. I love you grandpa! Hot Damn your finally home.

After talking to him for a few minutes  you couldn't help but have a smile afterward.
He will be me missed by everyone who knew him.
May he rest in peace.

He was one of a kind. Positive, upbeat, always a kind word. Generous and loyal to a fault.  I can’t say enough good things about him. He stayed in touch with his friends and kept us on our toes.  I was amazed at all he did. What a loss to us all.  

Bobby was always smiling and had a wonderful sense of humor. A good cook and great friend.
