Nicholas T. Sangalis, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in California on Monday, February 25, 2013. A native of East Chicago, Indiana, Nick lived for many years in both Cardiff, California and Bloomington, Minnesota.
Nick is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Evelyn Halas Sangalis; four children - Greg (Jane) Sangalis, Jeff (Kathy) Sangalis, Rebecca (Paul) Gyra, and Steve (Moiria) Sangalis; ten grandchildren – Ted (Caitie) Sangalis, Anna (Erik) Stiller, Jenny Sangalis, Emily Sangalis, Christine Sangalis, Nick Gyra, Christopher Gyra, Theo Gyra, Nick Sangalis, and Alexa Sangalis; his sister Diana Sangalis, brother Dean (Vel) Sangalis, ten grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nick was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School and Indiana University Bloomington’s School of Business. Following military service in the Korean War and college graduation, Nick embarked on a long and distinguished career in labor relations; the last 30 plus years as the owner and President of his own labor relations consulting firm, Alpha Associates, Inc.
A dedicated and devoted husband and father, Nick was the leader of his family and teacher, counselor and support to many people throughout his life. He was loved by many. His family is forever grateful and indebted to him for instilling such a great sense of family unity and values, unconditional love, and a positive attitude to their lives.
Visitation will be held at the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 3459 Manchester Avenue Cardiff By The Sea, CA 92007 on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 3459 Manchester Ave., Cardiff By The Sea, CA 92007 at 9:30 am on Monday March 4, 2013 with a reception immediately following. A private burial will follow the reception at Miramar National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 3459 Manchester Ave, Cardiff By The Sea, CA 92007 or a charity of your choice.
Though all will greatly miss their Husband, Dad, Papou, Uncle, Brother and friend, there is comfort in knowing that Nick is at home with our savior.
