Nancy Louise Engle

Nancy is survived by her husband, John “Jack” Engle of Oceanside; her mother, Dorothy (Wypijewski) Sieracki of Oceanside; her brother, Paul Sieracki of Davis; her sons, Russell (Kristin) and Scott (Joyce) Havranek, both of Carlsbad; and her five young grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Sieracki of Chicago, Illinois, who passed away in 1979.

Nancy was born on June 1, 1947 in Chicago. She graduated from James H. Bowen High School in 1965 and from the University of Illinois in 1969 where she majored in English with a minor in French. Nancy spent her early career as a high school English and French teacher and her later career in hospital accounting with many institutions across Chicago, while raising her two sons, Russell and Scott. She married Jack Engle in 2002 and together they resided in Arlington Heights, Illinois and frequently vacationed in South Haven, Michigan. Nancy and Jack moved to California coinciding with the birth of her son Scott’s first child in 2006.

Nancy was a fun-loving and generous individual who enjoyed family gatherings, spending time at the beach, and traveling. If there was an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, Nancy never hesitated to join the fun and her grandkids all had special times laughing and playing with their “Nana.” She was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church and spent many hours volunteering at Old Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.

Family and friends are invited to Nancy’s memorial service at Old Mission San Luis Rey starting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Fr. Adrian Peelo will officiate the ceremony.
