Through her love for prayer, praise, and worship she exuded boldness in her faith and walk with God. Mattie would often quote scriptures such as “I LOVE you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:1-3. “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2. Furthermore, some of Mattie's favorite hymns included: Psalm 23, How Great Thou Art, We Are Standing on Holy Ground, I Stand in Awe of You, Holy is The Lamb, I Come to the Garden, and Hallelujah. Everyone who encountered Mattie's presence commented on her regal spirit, and her radiant smile. Her joy and zest for life would illuminate a room and warm the hearts of those around her.
