Mark Robert Finch, age 61, went to be with our Lord on July 12, 2018 at UCSD La Jolla, California, after five years of Congestive Heart Failure. He was born on February 24, 1957 in Cincinnati Ohio. He is preceded in death by his loving father Brent R. Finch and mother Louise M. Finch.
Survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years Rebecca Finch, sons Thomas Finch (Sasha), Brent Finch (Amber), his daughters Gloria Hollis (Scott), and Nadine Ducote (Jordan), brothers Kurtis B. Finch (Lynn) and Garth R. Finch (Michele) Grandchildren, Aryana Ducote, Noah Finch, Elijah Finch and his youngest and most recent granddaughter, Eilyn Ducote, many Nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog Buckeye.
On March 1975 Mark dedicated his life to the Lord, He was baptized at Solid Rock Fellowship in Columbus Ohio on April, 30th 1978, Certain passages of scripture are written in the bible he used in college, John 3:16, 1 John 5:11-13.
Mark received his Bachelors of Social Work at
The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes) followed by his Masters at the University of Cincinnati. His younger years of life were spent with his loving family of Indian Hill, Ohio where he enjoyed boating and many vacations with his parents, siblings and cousins as well as riding motorcycles with brothers.
Later in life, he moved to Southern California, where he was a Social Worker for 14 years for Child Protective Services of Riverside California. He then transferred to adult services with the Jefferson House. He met his wife Becky in 1989, and they were soon married at The Potters House Christian Church in Beaumont, California where he worshiped God while playing his guitar. In 1995 he moved his family to Long Beach, Mississippi. This move was a divine order from God, as it created a better life for him and his children. While residing in South Mississippi, Mark and his family attended Northwood Church of Gulfport, and Long Beach. A dedicated servant to all, he led small groups of men by mentoring and ministering Gods word.
After 22 years on the Gulf Coast Mark retired from the VA in Biloxi, Mississippi. Then In June of 2017 he and his wife established their life of retirement in Oceanside, California. Mark had a passion for life; he loved God and serving in the Church first and foremost. He also enjoyed long trips. During his remaining years, he took trips to Angelus Oaks, Big Bear, Oceanside Pier, and Julian.
He encouraged his sons to learn music and play the trumpet as well as other instruments. He enjoyed watching his sons march in high school and Drum Corps. Music was their common bond. Mark enjoyed listening to the Allman Brothers, Tom Petty and the Turnpike Troubadours; towards the end of his wonderful life he enjoyed relaxing by the ocean or the pool with family and his dog Buckeye.
Mark is loved by many and will be missed by all.
Celebration of Life reception will be at the home residence of Mark Robert Finch following the burial at 3PM.
