Jeanne Marie Silberberger

She was born July 23, 1926, in Granada, CO, the daughter of William and Bessie Hayden. She married her soulmate John Silberberger in 1942, a month before he shipped off in the Navy to fight WWII. Marie worked for a short time for the Government in D.C. while John served our country.

Marie and John spent a glorious 70 years together with Marie as a homemaker, raising their only child Lynnie, and John as owner of a Construction company with his brothers that built many of So Cal's jetties and harbors, including Dana Point. They spent retirement years traveling the world, golfing together at El Camino CC and as active members of St. Patrick's and San Luis Rey Mission for many decades. Their greatest joys were being Grandparents and Great-Grandparents. They did nearly everything together until John passed on March 13, 2013.

Marie, nicknamed (by herself) Maisie, was always the life of the party and the home with an ever-ready sense of style, class and gumption. She was actively involved during Lynnie's years at Carlsbad HS. Marie was an avid reader and loved being a part of book clubs and Bible studies. She enjoyed music, playing the French Horn when she was young and the organ/piano throughout her entire life. She loved classic hymns and her favorite song was “You are my Sunshine” since that was her and John's song. She baked the most delectable fudge and pumpkin bread she perfected over 70 years, always making lots to give out to family and friends over the holidays. Marie was a life-long learner, especially in teaching herself how to use a computer and loved using social media to keep in touch. Marie excelled in keeping everyone informed and connected loved ones together in many ways.

Marie exuded passion and was full of wisdom and life. She danced the polka again, in her new eternal home, with the Love of her earthly life the night before Thanksgiving when she passed. It would have been their 76th wedding anniversary. If there was anything she loved best in this world, it was being “Mrs. John Silberberger”. Her great-grandaughter said it best, “She was Poppy's biggest fan.”

Marie is survived by her daughter Lynnie Clark (Dominic) of Carlsbad, Amy Beck (Mitch) of Rancho Santa Margarita, great-grandchildren Hayden and Landon, Kelly Clark of Carlsbad, and many beloved nieces/nephews and extended family.

There will be a graveside service at San Luis Rey Mission Old Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 5th at 12:30 pm and a celebration following.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you in honor of Marie's love for animals to “wag more and bark less”.
