Jason A. Garcia was born on January 1, 1999 in Escondido CA, to mother Claudia Nelson, and father Rogelio Garcia. Jason walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 27 2017 at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California at the age of 18.
While calling Carlsbad, California his home, he attended public schools. After moving to Yuma, Arizona Jason attended Gila Ridge High School from 2014 to 2016 were he later continued with his graduation at Vista Alternative High School in June of 2017. Jason was looking forward to pursuing one of his many dreams of becoming a movie producer.
Jason was a lover of mixed martial arts, such as Tae Kwon Doo. Jason had started to train at the age of 5 years old and was one belt away from being a black belt. Jason was a free soul and had a true love for skateboarding with his friends at any local skate park. Jason always had a craving for music, he could always be found listening too and wanting to share some of his favorite artists like; The Beatles, The Doors, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Credence Clearwater Revival. Everyone would always mention what great taste for music he had, on his relaxation time he would enjoy listening to meditation & soothing relaxation music.
Friends and Family were amazed by Jason’s Compassionate heart, kind, caring, loving and fun. Jason wanted to dedicate his life to helping the less fortunate, Jason wanted to have a successful career where he could earn enough to help the homeless people. Whenever Jason had some money in his pocket, he would rather go buy food to feed the homeless people who he would see on the side of the road, knowing that he would have to wait till home to eat. But this was Jason’s unselfish unique soul and Heart. Couple days before his accident Jason saw a homeless man without shoes, standing barefoot on the side of a road. Through active compassion, Jason removed his shoes and gave them to the homeless man, someone unknown to him, whom he perceived to have a greater need.
Knowing Jason, his family believes that Jason would have wanted to continue to give to others in need throughout his life, as hard as it was for his mother, she helped Jason to accomplish one more of his wishes before he go meet with our Lord, Jason donated all his organs to save others lives. Jason saved the lives of 7 people.
His Heart saved a man in his 40’s a husband and a father in Southern CA who waited 1.5 yrs. Two people are breathing with his lungs. A 1 yr. old Baby and a 60+ yr. old woman received his liver. One kidney went to a Pediatric patient in CA and the other went to a service member at Walter Reed Hospital. Through Organ donation, Jason continued to give of himself and of this, his family is very proud of him. Even though we can’t see him or hear him with us anymore, he’s still here, forever in our hearts and his spirit will continue to live and shine on through all the lives of those 7 people he saved and of all the people that loved him so much.
Jason will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of young man that anyone would be proud to call Son, Grandson and Best Friend. His funeral services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Encinitas, CA on 17 November 2017 at 12:00pm.
