Jim was born on March 13, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia. In 1955 the family moved to White Haven, Pennsylvania.
Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps and was medically retired as a Lance Corporal in 1968, remaining in San Diego County, CA for the majority of his life.
He later worked in the Aircraft/Turbine Engines sector while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Personnel Management.
After graduating from National University in the spring of 1983, he was offered a position in Human Resources. Jim would stay in this field for the rest of his career, first as a manager, then a director, and finally at the executive level as Vice President of Human Resources for GKN, a global aerospace company.
Throughout his HR career, Jim was well known for his reputation of treating all people with dignity and respect.
But more than anything, Jim was a devoted father & husband. He loved spending time with his family, sharing stories about his life growing up, making holidays more magical, and occasionally cooking his favorite family meal – steak & homemade French fries. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, reading his Bible, and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He was an active church member and he & his wife hosted Growth Group meetings, a weekly ministry of North Coast church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Judy, his children, Lori, Jim Jr, and Lisa, as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His memory will be cherished by all who know him.
A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pacifica House, Hospice of the North Coast.
