With profound sadness we announce the passing of Charlie, our precious son, brother, uncle, and friend to all whose lives he touched, on July 9th, 2020. He left us suddenly, leaving a crater in the lives of so many. He was a Christmas baby, born December 25th, 1985, in Los Angeles, with a head of his signature red hair and bright blue eyes that reflected the light of his smile.
Charlie lived in a way that most are never courageous enough to do. A live wire, living by the moment, unafraid and with the unstoppable mind and lightning wit of a mad genius. Convention was like torture and traditional methods were a foreign language to him. The obscure ideas, the interesting angles, the long shots were his forte, and he saw opportunity everywhere. He was able to see what we dared not believe in ourselves. He built relationships in his life that were solid and lasting. He would do anything for a friend, and so many found solace in knowing he was in their corner. He loved his family dearly and did all he could to affirm and protect them.
He was a perpetual inventor and a tireless human. He squeezed every drop from himself. He did nothing casually. Crafting beer and kombucha, climbing, hiking, fishing, playing poker, fantasy football, and adventuring with his beloved dog Athena were all vessels into which Charlie poured his passion and focus.
Charlie was an entrepreneur at heart, and sought not only to fulfill his own dreams, but also to nurture the dreams of others. Together with Cassie Hall, he built his successful childcare center, Homeroom, from the ground up. He was in the process of expanding and relocating the business at the time of his passing. He was a constant sounding board for those he loved as they shared their business ideas as well, and was always there with a word of encouragement, a challenge of thought, or a bit of helpful research. He found so much joy in helping others find their passions and see them become reality.
Charlie was predeceased by his father, Doug Quirmbach, his stepfather Robert Stauber, his grandfather Richard Blanchard, his grandmother Fern Quirmbach, and his aunt, Kathy Blanche. Survivors include his mother, Becky Blanchard; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Danielle Johnson; sister Corey Beebe; sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and Jeff Minhas; nephews Ryan Johnson, Logan Minhas, and Carter Minhas; nieces Avery Johnson and Charlotte Minhas; uncle Mark Quirmbach; grandfather Charles Quirmbach; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind many dear friends who loved him endlessly.
