Barbara Jean Knott (nee Lake), age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Barbara was born on July 28, 1929, in Monett, Missouri, to Fred and Jean Lake. She had one brother, Bill. She married her husband Wayne Knott on May 6th, 1948. Their nearly 71 year long marriage was blessed with four children: Connie, Teresa, David, and Steve. Wayne preceded Barbara in death in 2019 after a brief illness. She is survived by her children, their spouses, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Barbara was a military wife for 22 years before Wayne retired from the Marines in 1969. She was a devoted mother and dedicated much of her life to her family. While Wayne went to college, she worked at Kraft Systems for five years, which manufactured remote control devices for model airplanes. She was in charge of the shipping and receiving department. After Wayne’s retirement, they traveled together all over the world, visiting places such as Alaska, northern Europe, and Belgium. They also chaperoned the Vista High school band on numerous trips to England.
Barbara was a 20 year breast cancer survivor and an active member of the former Buena Vista Baptist Church, now Stonebrooke, where she and Wayne had been attending since 1960. She was a loving and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Stonebrooke Church or American Heart Association.
