Middletown- Dr. Sanford Stuart Gold, age 85 of Middletown died October 4, 2019 after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Newark, NJ to Harry and Molly Gold where he attended Weequahic High School graduating in 1953. During that time, Sandy met the love of his life and future wife of 63 years Judy Raff, beginning a journey taking them through Rutgers University and NYU Dental School where he graduated in 1958. At NYU, Sandy was inducted into the Honorary OKU Dental Fraternity and received the prestigious University Founders Day Award. Following a two year stay at US Air Force base Wurtsmith in Oscoda Michigan, Sandy and Judy returned to live in New Jersey where they raised a family and Sandy established a dental practice in Keyport for 43 years.
An avid runner most of his life and always dedicated to fitness, Sandy had varied interests spanning from an intense love of boating and fishing, music and ultimately wood sculpting and golf where he would spend hours on the practice range in Boca West, Florida. His intellectual curiosity knew no bounds and he always impressed with his range of knowledge.
Sandy is survived by wife Judy, son Dr. Jeffrey Gold and wife Lisa of Ocean, NJ; son Robert Gold and wife Kimberly of Middletown, NJ; grandchildren Emily, Jason, Avery, Adam and Joshua; and many nieces and nephews all of whom will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 1:00 at Temple Shalom, Aberdeen, NJ. Burial will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, NJ.
The family wishes that any donations be made to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research, UM Sylvester Cancer Center, Boca West Chapter.
