William G. Sterba, age 86, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 with his family at his bedside. He was born on March 16, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late William and Jesse Sterba. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clarice, and their two children, Cynthia Lynn DioGuardi (Charles DioGuardi) of Windermere, Florida and Bradley William Sterba of Orlando, Florida. Bill was proud of his three grandchildren, Stephanie Paige, Amanda Lynn, and Brett DioGuardi, a Gator football player at UF, Bill's favorite collegiate team! Bill was an avid sports fan; he played baseball for, and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan College in Bloomington, Illinois. Bill also loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Bill was a Sergeant in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 and stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was proud to serve his country. Bill spent most of his career as a Human resource Director at a large Chicago electrical engineering company. Bill and his family moved to Winter Haven, FL in 1978 as a Human Resource VP with a major citrus company. After retiring in 1992, Bill started a consulting firm, then finally completely retired before moving to The Villages in 1998.
Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, March 16, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL. Funeral Service will be held at 2pm with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Bill will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.
