Robert Eugene Alexander was the only child born to the late Robert Lee and Lucy K. Alexander of Lakeland, Florida. “Alex”, as he was known, was born on September 19, 1945. He departed this life on May 31, 2018.
He was educated in the Nashville Catholic School System until the eighth grade then he received his secondary education in the public school system of Nashville, Davidson County. Alex continued his education in his hometown; first at Aquinas Junior College, class of 1972, then at Tennessee State University, class of 1985.
Alex was a decorated war veteran, serving a tour in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his military commitment, he joined the Metro Nashville Police Department where he retired after a thirty-nine year career.
He is survived by a loving wife Donna Rae Alexander, two sisters Amelia (Michael) and Lisa, four children Christopher, Joshua (Miatta), Shon Robert, and Treasure, three step children Mandi (Sean), Brady (Kendra), Richena (John-David), six grandchildren Dominique, Dominick, Justin, Chrishaun, Alana, and Demontre, two great grandchildren MiKayla and McKenzie. A host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceeded in death by his Aunt Ethel, brothers Larry and Kenneth, and his son, Jesse.
