Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel in Oakhurst, CA for Lynn Musick, a longtime resident of Bakersfield, CA, who passed away at her home in Coarsegold, CA Saturday.
Lynn was born in Boise Idaho, the youngest of 8 children of Ola May Mettlen Chard, and the youngest child of Ola May and Marion Chard. Lynn was nicknamed Corky and that is what most people called her. She was raised in the areas of Nyssa Oregon and Boise Idaho and was taught by example to be hardworking, honest, and strong. Corky was a cherished sister, daughter, aunt, and cousin by her family while growing up. Her love of books started when she was a child, and she was known to always have her nose in a book. She carried her love of reading throughout her life, as well as her love of adventure!
Corky met her true love in 1955 when she was 17 years old, while working as a waitress in Mountain Home Idaho, and six weeks later married Arthur Hayes Musick Jr. on January 16, 1956. They had 5 children: Steven Wayne, Shannon Louise, Michael Keith, Sharon Lynn, and Sheryl LaDean, who she and Art devoted their lives to. There was always the kiss goodnight, family nights, Sunday at church, and every Christmas was magical because of mom. After the kids were raised, she took up golfing so she could have that time with Art. She became a worthy golfing companion and grew to love the sport.
While raising 5 children, Lynn served in multiple callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints; serving children, youth, women, and families of the wards that she was a part of. She also found time to serve in homeless shelters, administer help to families in her community, and provide a home and love for foster children. Lynn is known to be someone that we could call for help and know that we would receive it. She was a conduit of our Heavenly Father's love.
After Lynn's "My Art" went to help prepare for their eternity, Lynn continued to live life to the fullest and she was blessed with true friendship that helped sustain her during the 14 years of separation from her love. Words can't do justice for those loving angels who simply adored her, and she adored each one of them.
There are 58 people that call her grandma. Grandma remembered every birthday each year despite how the numbers grew! She would send dollar bills for each birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, and Easter to each one-every year! When a grand child's birthday came, there was always a phone call with Grandma's voice singing "Happy Birthday to you".
Lynn was preceded in death by her Husband, Arthur Hayes Musick Jr.; her son, Steven Wayne Musick; her grandson, Ronaldo Mota. her mother, Ola May Chard; her father, Marion Chard; and all her siblings: Marie, Donna, Wayne, Billy, Audroy, Bonnie, and Alta.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mica Musick; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Ken Ricks; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kathleen Musick; Daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Musick and Chris Alcock; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Shannon Rock, as well as 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
Our mother is our forever friend, our hero, our example of love, strength, and faith. Until we meet again mom, we will miss you! We will miss the games, your laugh, your cute phrases, your joy! We love you!
The Matriarch
She is the glue that kept us close
The stitch that ever binds us
If one has wandered off too far
She goes there to find us
Her dignified and knowing ways
We'd never dare to measure
Her harvest is full and sweet and ripe
For it is us she treasures
With love and work and diligence
Her example lights the way
We honor her in work and thought
In all we do and say
We are never lost and not one forgotten
When nestled amongst her flock
For blessed are we to live our lives
By lessons she had taught.
