Donna Mae Nelson, an only child, was born in McCook, Nebraska in August of 1930 at the onset of the Great Depression. Her mother Beaulah took the chance to relocate to Chicago. Of all places, the train brought them to Elmhurst, IL. As Donna stepped off the train, she marveled at the greenery of the trees and vowed that one day she would live there.
Ending up in Melrose Park, she attended elementary school there and graduated from East Leyden High School in 1948. It was during her high school years when she met Jay Almerico. He fought hard for her affections and ultimately won her heart. They were married for 45 years and settled in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1968.
Donna, a loving mother of five children, beloved grandmother of 7, and blessed great-grandmother to 3, faithful friend, and prayer warrior to many. She successfully ran her own business, Almerico and Associates, for over 40 years.
Her faith and trust in God carried her through the loss of her constant companion Jay. Never gave up hope in knowing she would see him one day. Her love and devotion to family and friends will be missed. Know she loved you all.
We can be confident that she is at home in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
