Katherine "Kate" Schneider

Katherine Schneider, 93, of Crestwood IL, passed away on April 24, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born in Vodjinci, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia) on December 4, 1926 (daughter of the late Cecilia Tonkovich and late Karl Epli); beloved wife of the late Michael Schneider; loving mother of Maria Michaels, John (Dawn) Schneider, and Katherine Zamparo Dietz; devoted grandmother of Michael (Amanda) Schneider, Katelyn Zamparo, Richard (Christa) Schneider, Rod (Katy) Zamparo, and Kevin (Brigid) Schneider; cherished great-grandmother of Gabby, Emma, Leonardo, and Benjamin; dear sister of the late Magdalena Goessl; dear sister-in-law of Mary (the late Nick) Szajnowski and the late Joseph (late Teresa) Schneider; loving aunt to Maria Gorton, Teresa Schneider, Helen (Terry) Kolodzieg, Stefan (Sabrina) Goessl, Mary Jane (Nick) Genovese, the late Wanda Szajnowski, and John (late Lynn) Szajnowski; special Oma to Maria, Ela and Robin Manigatterer; and a great-aunt to many beautiful nieces and nephews.

Katherine, a homemaker, who loved to knit, crochet and sew leaving many cherished gifts to her family and future generations yet to come. She had a beautiful voice and shared it with the St. Denis choir where she enjoyed many lasting friendships. Above all else, she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has left us all with a full heart and an enduring strength to follow her example.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration of her life is being planned for August 1st at Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn, IL.
