So sorry to hear of Ed’s passing, he and Liz were  2 of the sweetest people. They are  finally be back together., along with Sooo many others that have gone before them. That party is getting Bigger Every year!

I came on the CFD with Ed in 1973.  I remember they gave hi m a hard time on the physical due to an injury suffered in Viet Nam.  Ed was one of my best friends on the fire dept. and we stayed in touch via phone after we retired.  Ed Porter was one of the best firefighters I worked with.  RIP Ed!

I was fortunate to have met Ed early in my career, and cross paths with him many times over the years.  

He was one of the most respected individuals I have ever met, a great mentor, leader, teacher and role model. 

The kind of guy you could only hope to aspire to be like someday.

He had a big impact on so many, and as a result we all benefited.

He will truly be missed.


Very sad. Ed was a great guy. Great boss and great friend.  We will miss him at our Veteran's Day get togethers.  RIP Ed. 

Ed was an absolute gentleman and a good fireman (the highest compliment we have for each other). Always glad to see him on the fire scene.

My family and I express our sincere condolences on the passing of Ed. We share many great memories of growing up on Washtenaw in the great parish of St Thomas More. From our block party’s to our softball games at Rosenwald the Porters along with all the great other family’s made our block fun. RIP Ed you’re reunited with your love Liz. We keep your family in our prayers. 

Ed will be missed by many. We worked together  from time to time. He use to come to the 13th battalion.  Engine 95, truck 26, battalion 13 send ambulance 10. We referred  to him as the black cat! Everytime he came to 95's house We always caught a fire. It was a privilege to work for him. He new his job well.R.I.P.

I was with your Mom on the night she met your Dad.  I believe it was love at first sight for both of them.  He was such a great guy, and now can carry on once more with the love of his life.  You are all in my prayers.
