Born on November 4, 1950 in Chicago, IL to the loving hard working father K.D. Little and delightful loving mother Mary Jane Little. Dorothy was the eldest of five children to K.D and Mary, followed by Kenneth, Linda, Valerie and Sharon.
Dorothy graduated from Harper High School and during this time she met her first husband James B. Cooper Jr.
She then received a degree in special education from Olive Harvey College and continued her education at Harold Washington College after this. During her college years, Dorothy married Nathaniel Strong Sr, a childhood friend.
Dorothy’s chosen career for 25years in special education support afforded her a well balanced work schedule to be more accessible for her passion for her children, Lee Cooper, James Cooper III, Nathaniel Strong Jr. Philip Strong and DeMario Strong as well as her nephew who she considered her son, Isaiah Sanders.
Dorothy also earned a specialty certificate in public accounting from DePaul University and worked for a tax and accounting firm for 12 years.
Dorothy was a faithful and devout sister of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. She worships and served at the Chicago South Congregation as a 35 year regular pioneer. Her unwavering faith in Jehovah was her pride.
She was a veracious reader and she had a passion for dancing, specifically steppin’, word games & puzzles and always felt most at home during field service, preaching the word.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Little, her first husband James B. Cooper Jr, her second husband Nathaniel Strong Sr and her nephew/son Isaiah Sanders, her nephew Billy Cooper.
She is survived by her husband Andrew Brown, children Lee Cooper, James Cooper III, Nathaniel Strong Jr. Philip Strong and DeMario Strong; grandchildren including La-Kiesha Cooper, Leland Cooper, Aishja Cooper, Jaelin Cooper, Cheyenne Cooper, Chyna Cooper, Aaliyah Cooper, Keontae Strong, Breanna Strong, DeMario Strong, Amara Strong, Isaiah E. Sanders, Valentine Strong; siblings Kenneth Little and his wife Fatima Little, Linda Cooper, Valerie Brown; other close relatives, Kenneitha Little, LaTricia Cooper, Sharon Cooper, Amber Cooper, Collen Mason, Tommy McBee and his wife and kids, Douglas McBee and his wife and son, Barbara and Roosevelt Floyd, Marcus Harrington and his wife and children, Malcolm Harrington and children, Michele Harrington and children.
