I was looking through old photos of you and your sister today. Being Mom to you both is the greatest gift. I thank God for you both and I’m so grateful for the almost 37 years he gave you to me. I miss you so much. I miss your laugh, your funny texts, your calm logic when something upset me. I will miss you every single day and always feel this aching heartbreak.  I remember the day you were born and how happy I was to have such a perfect, beautiful healthy son.  I remember giving you the nickname: Pepe’ in 8th grade when you always spoke Spanish to me and you calling me Deon.  I will love you forever,  Pepe’ and miss you, my beautiful blue eyed boy until we are together again someday. I’m sure you will play pranks and make angels laugh in Heaven.  

I have known Brandon for years since our time in the Marines.  We kept in touch for years. One day while at target in Yorkville  my kids and I ran in to him and Andrea and kids.  I'm not from IL but moved here for my husbands work. Such a small world!! To see him after all those years. 

One of my most favorite memories with Brandon was the first time he finally let me drive his beloved Mustang.  He loved that car so much. He and I drove for hours on PCH listening  to great music on his sound system he was also very proud of.  Leaving the service today I noticed the road out front of the church was  "Honorary Mustang Road."  It was perfect for him.   He will be miss dearly by many. Below is one of my most favorite pictures I took of him, he had a flag hanging on his wall in his room in 22 area when he lived in the barracks and his favorite blue sweatshirt he always wore.

BKruegs...
I was at ELMACO in the radio sections with ol' Bkruegs, truly glorious times!  I've only met a few individuals in all my travels with gifts as powerful as Brandon's.  His carefree attitude and ability to laugh at life, no matter what the circumstances were are just one of the things I'll remember him by.  It's impossible to forget his laughs, giggles and the faces he'd make when doing so.  They were infectious regardless of the situation or chaos that they might even cause.  At ELMACO I believe a rule was even put into place stating we couldn't laugh while working...  Of course due to ol' BKruegs, always making a group viciously laugh to a point that it halted production.  Even the superiors would laugh, making it inevitable that if you walked by, you heard laughter and wanted to stay and be part of his energy.    
A little over a year ago I arrived in Chicago for an art event, and met up with Brandon.  He hadn't lost his touch at all!  We laughed for hours during my short visit and I'll always remember that trip!  We reminisced and shared the truly different paths that life had put in front of us:  me as a bohemian and him as part of the CPD.  During which he shared with me a love story about his wife and kids that still to this day I value.  I know he wasn't as emotionally open as some, even though he laughed more than most, but during that time he was, and I was lucky enough to hear him tell me one of the greatest tales of love I've ever heard one say about their family.  
I'll always remember you for your Laughter, Uplifting Spirit, Love for Family and your Love for Country....  Go Easy Bro, Heaven's streets are now guarded with one more Bad Ass Marine!

Bkruegs - 
Brandon and I were in the Marines together.  We were roommates in 29 Palms, CA, and we also went through MCT together way back in 1999.  He was a great friend, fiercely loyal and always laughing and clowning around about something.  There wasn't much that he didn't find funny!  We played football together in Pendleton, while we were stationed at ELMACO.  Man, we had a good time.  Krueger, Upp, Smitty, Big A, Pauly, D-Dub, Keen-o..........time of our lives man!  I first met Krueger one night during MCT, when he was going out to answer a challenge by Littlejohn, another Marine who wanted to fight him.  I went with Krueger, because it was just him and there were 5 guys with Littlejohn.   Of course, Krueger won the fight, because he never had an ounce of "back down" in him when the time came.  That's how I'll remember you, always happy, always laughing, always ready.............Good bye Brother.  Be easy man!

The news of Brandon’s death this morning absolutely rocked me to my core, and I’m still in denial this is real.  I met Brandon in 2006 shortly after moving to Colorado and formed a friendship that stood the test of time and miles.  Brandon was a sweetheart; always helping where he could and always looking out for another service member...my transition to living in CO wouldn’t have been as easy without him.  This world lost a beautiful light and I pray that his children always get the chance to hear about the good their father did and how much he loved them.  I pray his wife and his parents find peace and much needed comfort in the days and journey to come, that he no doubt will be there with them as they mourn him.  May you forever feel his presence and see his light.  Know he was loved and made a real difference in so many lives.  Brandon always inspired me, we could always share stories and achievements with one another.  I’m going to miss those, but I’ll share them with the skies above now and my work will be done in his honor, for him.  May God hold you closer than ever.

I never met Brandon but I do work with his father Roger a good friend of mine. I send my deepest condolences to Brandons family and to his brothers and sisters at the police department. I thank you for your service and may you rest in peace.

My son, Ben, was born four days after Brandon. They both grew up to be Marines. I have many memories of Brandon as a little boy. I have watched from afar as he became a Marine, a father and an officer. He will always be someone I admire. My thoughts are with Diane, Lisa and Andrea.


I did not have the honor of knowing Brandon, but I wanted to offer my condolences to his family & friends. My prayers for God’s comfort and strength for you all in this difficult time.

You will always be a part of my life, dearest nephew.   This is a new chapter for you but doesn't change your place in my memories or your special place in my heart one bit.  I love you forever.  

Brandon n i have been friends over 30yrs. We lived a few houses apart in Georgetown. He'd call every now n then to see what kind of mess my life was in at the moment lol. But he also called to see how my 2 brothers, Chris n Steve, were doing. They suffer from several mental illnesses and he knew how much we went thru with them having been in classes with them in school. He has always been sincere, caring, thoughtful, and just a great friend. My family will miss him dearly. May you rest in the peaceful arms of the Lord. Then fly high  on Angels wings my friend. 

I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with Brandon. I will always remember his concern for the victims involved in the cases he handled. He truly cared about them and even called for advice to best protect them. Rest peacefully dear friend.
