Terry was born and raised in Portland, Oregon to Agnes and Herman Heuker. She married, Howard Silvey in 1951, and moved to Novato, California in 1959.
Terry was active in many organizations in Novato during her fifty-nine years of residency. She helped establish the Nave Lanes Woman’s Bowling League where she served as secretary. She belonged to the Junior Woman’s Club, PTA and the Novato Garden Club. In her retirement years, Terry served as treasurer of the Novato Senior Center and loved volunteering with Hospice Hodgepodge Novato Thrift Store and the Friends of Novato Library book store.
Terry spent her career as a bookkeeper both in Portland, Oregon and in Novato. She loved working and oftentimes held multiple jobs assisting local businesses. In Novato she worked for a local CPA, and finished her career at Pini Hardware. In addition to working Terry was an avid reader and gardener. She also enjoy sewing, a skill she learned in 4H and from her grandmother, whom lived with her during her childhood. She was a great neighbor and a friend to many, always willing to share a cup of coffee and a nice chat. She valued family and her grandchildren were her greatest joys.
Terry was predeceased by her husband, Howard of 43 years. She is survived by her children Steven of Vancouver, Washington, Jan (Miki) of Denver, Colorado, Sharon (Don) of Pleasant Hill, Barbara (Roy) of Petaluma, Cara (Greg) of Cotati and her eight grandchildren, Katherine, Christina, Melissa, Anthony, Lauren, Daniel, Grace and Joseph. She is also survived by her brother, Bernard Heuker of Cascade Locks, Oregon, countless nieces and nephews and cousins both here and in Germany.
A viewing will begin at 4:00 PM, with a rosary service at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, at Keaton’s, Novato. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato, Wednesday August 22, at 10:30 am.
