Barbara Ann Wong, (69), wife of Doug Emery, passed away on July 30, 2024 from Stage IV cancer. She was born on September 6, 1954 to Yee Shang Ngor (Julie) and Ham Chow Wong (Eddie) in Tucson, Arizona.
Barbara attended Roskruge Elementary and Roskruge Junior High School then graduated from Tucson High School – a Badger Forever. She earned her Bachelor's degree at the University of Arizona where she competed on the University's Fencing Club team.
Barbara moved to San Francisco after college where she met Doug. They married on August 3, 1997 and together, raised 2 dogs and 10 cats. Before retiring in 2019, she worked at Chevron for nearly 30 years where her creativity, dedication and commitment along with her strong organization, technical and planning skills, laid the foundation for countless, successful leadership events.
Barbara loved animals (especially “kitties”), gardening, crafting and sharing her baked creations.
Barbara is survived by her husband Doug Emery. She was the youngest of 5 siblings. She will be remembered by her sisters Julie Quan (Walter), Carol Farrall (John), and Jo Ann Lee (Ronald).
She will be missed by her nieces Kimberly Quan, Susan Ham, Tamara Farrall, Colleen Gurski (Steve), and Kareina Rupp (Erik); and her nephews Elston Quan, Anthony Ham, Ryan Lee, and Brandon Lee.
Her grandnephews Grayson, Kaiton, Isaac, Braden, Matthew (Diane), and her grandniece Haley will miss her and her homemade almond cookies.
Barbara is also survived by her sister-in-law Judith Schoolwerth (Anton); her nieces Sara Donahue (Mark) and Kate Gustafson (Zach); her nephew Pieter Schoolwerth (Sasha); her grandnieces Evie, Lydia, Inez and Fiona; and her grandnephews Quinn and Oliver.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Julie Wong, her brother and her sister-in-law Howard and Annie Ham, and her niece Rebecca Ham.
In honoring Barbara’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family deeply appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support offered by all whose lives she touched. As Barbara loved animals, in lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to:
