On November 11, 2024 Melvin "Mel" Silwick passed away. He was the beloved husband of Mary Silwick (nee McGehee); devoted father of Melanie Silwick and Matt Silwick, Sr.; loving step-father of Jennifer Zeback and her husband Mike, and Laura Walters and her husband Jeremy; cherished grandfather of Matthew Jr., Emerson, Aubrey and Juliette; beloved son of the late Melvin and Rita Silwick; dear brother of Donna Ostrowski, Tina Maans, Kenny Silwick, and the late Dave Silwick; he is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mel was very skilled and his career spanned working for the railroad, in HVAC, as an electrician and in telecommunications. He was an avid collector of tropical and fresh water fish and loved spending time at the beach or going to sporting events with his family & friends. He also loved photography.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Melvin's name to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NTRF), 31 St. James Ave., Suite 365, Boston, MA 02116.
