Mary Agnes Messina, 90, of Perry Hall, MD, passed away March 21, 2023. She was born in Baltimore, MD, and was the youngest child of the late Alfredo and Mildred Cianferano. She was the dear wife of the late Joseph Messina. She was the beloved sister to pre-deceased siblings: Scooter Cianferano, Kies Cianferano, Charlie Cianferano, Paul Cianferano, Alfred Cianferano, Muffy Vicchio, Rose Auts, Camilla Schollian, Margaret Welsh, and Angelina Oats.
Mary was the devoted mother of Teresa Messina Logue and Vince Messina, and the cherished mother-in-law of Jerry Logue. Mary was the proud grandmother of Joseph Messina and Adam Logue. She was the honorary grandmother to Michael Green, Sammy Logue, and Chris Logue. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mary was born on November 15, 1932, and raised in Baltimore, MD. She grew up on West 23rd Street and went to Corpus Christi Elementary School and St. James Secretary School. She worked at Read’s Drug Store and Brass and Copper. After she and Joe were married in 1969, she raised Teresa and Vince. She later worked at a catering company serving The Catholic High School of Baltimore and Notre Dame Preparatory School. She later worked at Joppa View Elementary School’s cafeteria and finally retired at age 85.
Mary loved spending time with friends and family. She liked sharing her birthday with her niece, Mary Caprio, who was like a sister to her. She enjoyed celebrating the holidays with extended family including Nick, Terry, Nicole, and Courtney Caprio, Terry and Mike Moore, and the Yori families.
Mary enjoyed rocking in her chair while she watched the Orioles and cooking shows, reading books, and talking with friends and family. She was an incredibly content person, who only needed a coffee and pastry to be happy.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD, on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10 AM, at St. Joseph Fullerton Catholic Church, 8420 Belair RD, Baltimore, MD 21236. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org
