Jeanne Whitney McGuire

On March 12, 2023, Jeanne Whitney McGuire, passed away at home, with her family by her side; devoted partner of Sandra G. Thomas beloved mother of Kathleen J. Conneally, Thomas J. McGuire, Kevin L. Thomas, and Christopher D. Thomas; dear sister of Robert P. Whitney. Also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Ms. McGuire began her teaching career in Baltimore County Public Schools in 1964 after graduating from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She earned a Master of Education from Towson State University. She taught in Hillendale Elementary, Middleborough Elementary, and Middlesex Elementary; and she also served as Assistant Principal at Red House Elementary and Timber Grove Elementary. In her capacity as Assistant Principal, Ms McGuire used her extensive training and knowledge to educate classroom teachers in the area of special education law.

Ms. McGuire enjoyed singing and served her community by singing in a group that visited and performed in various senior centers. She was also well traveled and enjoyed spending time in Europe, China, and Africa.

Relatives and friends will gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham MD 21236, on Wednesday, 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., and where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
