Born on November 26, 1945, Eileen grew up in the Northwood neighborhood of Baltimore City. She was the oldest by 6 months of a set of 5 cousins living in the same neighborhood who all grew up as siblings. She graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Baltimore in 1963 and continued on to Frostburg State University graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1967 with a degree in English. Eileen continued her studies with a M. Ed. in Secondary Education from Towson State University in 1972 graduating again Magna Cum Laude.
Eileen dedicated her working years to the Baltimore County Public School system, first as an English teacher at Overlea and Chesapeake High Schools, and later as Assistant Principal at Lansdowne High School.
Even though she was an only child, her three male cousins served as models to help her hone her skills in dealing with the occasional mischievous youth. Fondly known to her students as Ms. Mik, Eileen was well-respected by her colleagues and students and earned proper recognition as Maryland’s Cooperative Education Teacher of the Year in 1990.
After retiring from education, she channeled her creativity into crafting eventually turning a hobby into a small business, Seneca Pond Crafts, where she shared her paper crafting talents with customers across the country. Seneca Pond Crafts evolved into a YouTube channel and eventually an Etsy shop where her art never earned anything less than a 5-star review after thousands of sales.
Eileen’s generosity of spirit led her to spend her spare time volunteering at local nursing homes as a woodworking instructor and in Adopt-A-Grandparent programs. She loved the Chesapeake Bay, the Baltimore Ravens, a cup of cream of crab soup with a shrimp salad sandwich, and some good 1980’s WWE wrestling. She could talk with you about British literature of the Victorian era or about the latest episode of Survivor. She carried herself with a very proper appearance paired with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. Her humor was disarming and infectious and her laugh filled whatever room she was in.
Eileen will be missed by her loving partner Bob Falck of Cockeysville. She leaves behind her cousins John V. Treppe (Carolyn), Rhonda H. Treppe (Robert Martino), Mark V. Treppe (Therese Blanchon), her niece Christina Treppe, niece Carleen Treppe Fisher (Douglas J. Fisher), grand-niece Helen D. Fisher, and grand-nephew Thomas C. Fisher.
She is forever reunited with her beloved parents, John and Lillian Mikolayunas (née Shopis), dėdė (uncle) and teta (aunt) Vincent J. and Johanna E. Treppe (née Shopis), cousin Joseph V. Treppe, and cousin-in-law Carolyn M. Treppe (née Dabrowka).
Viewings will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home at 9705 Belair Road, Nottingham from 3pm - 5pm and 7pm - 9pm on Friday, September 27. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 28 at Schimunek Funeral Home followed by a graveside burial service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 4430 Belair Road.
In lieu of flowers, Eileen would like gifts to be made to the Maryland Zoo.
