Still missing Amy terribly. Leon, the kids, and I speak of Amy often and we wanted you to know that she'll always hold a special place in our hearts. We see 814 often and are always reminded of her happiness and love of life and helping others.  Sending you all continued love and prayers.

I live in Nottingham, I remember Officer Caprio often. I also go to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens often because my parents are buried there. I always stop by the Memorial for Police and Firefighters and say a prayer for Amy and other Fallen Heroes.

Amy, your family, friends, & Doodles... I just looked at all of the wonderful photos of you thru the years. What a testimony to your character of a loving and compassionate human being. I cried knowing now, how your family is still grieving from you leaving this earth. I now have lost my only child, my son. The pain is relentless and nothing can ever begin to heal this excruciating heartache. I thought of you this week and your memory came up in my posts. My son's Birthday is May 25, he would 
have been 50. Rest in Peace Amy, say Hi to my son Denny. 

To the Caprio and Sorrells families...I think of your Amy often and know that you all do daily. I am hoping that some Peace has found you all in the time that has passed. But I know that the pain will always be there. Amy's sacrifice was not without notice and remembrance. May all of you know that many hearts miss her and continue to pray for all of you.
 

Another year has past and I am sure that the pain in the hearts of those that love you is no less...maybe even more. Much has changed in the world since you left, but too much remains the same. Those that are heartless are still leaving loved ones asking why. 
I think about you often and now know how quick a life can change in a split second. My only son was paralyzed on Easter Sunday, his life, mine and the lives of family and friends have changed forever.  So I know you will always be loved & missed by all that know you. Sleep tight brave one.

Remembering you Officer Caprio...no amount of time will ever erase the sacrifice you had to give...now someone has lost a life as he knew it as a result of ending yours...but that does not bring you back to your family, friends, and fellow officers that were left behind to grieve in your loss.
I only know that the bravest go forward without thought of their own life to save others pain and suffering. I know your soul is in the right place Amy...you are missed and will never be forgotten.

I still think of this beautiful officer who gave her life to protect the citizens of Perry Hall.  Thank you officer Caprio and RIP.    I wrote this poem the day after you died.  While I did not know you....you will always be remembered.
            
Officer Amy Caprio answered one last call,
A suspicious car was spotted in Perry Hall,
She arrived at the scene and confronted the driver,
Who did not live here and was an outsider,
The driver ran her down without a thought,
Soon he would be one of four, who were sought,
Yes, they found the boys, who ended her life,
But behind was left a community in strife,
 No one really slept well that night,
Knowing that a beautiful soul went into the light,	
A daughter, a friend, an officer and wife,
She made the ultimate sacrifice, she gave her life,
Trying to make the world a better place,
We will always remember her beautiful face,

Events from this past week serve as a very stark reminder of the tremendous sacrifice Officer Caprio, and you, have made to the citizens of Maryland.

There are no words to adequately express our sincere condolences, and gratitude, to her, and you, for this life altering experience.

We ALL need to be reminded of her, her sacrifice, and that of her family, fellow officers, and friends left behind.

I am grateful that as a member of the Associated Italian American Charities of Maryland, Inc., (AIAC) and my fellow members, that we had the opportunity to provide a scholarship, in Officer Caprio's name, to Towson University at our awards banquet last December.

It was extremely humbling to participate in the ceremony when the AIAC presented the Officer Amy Caprio Scholarship to her family, several of her fellow officers, and friends, whom attended and observed  the very emotional presentation...

My guests from the ODYSSEY SCHOOL, whom have attended many fund raising events,including their own, were extremely moved to have been present during the presentation to Officer Caprio's family, fellow officers, and friends, said that they had never attended such a warm, heartfelt , emotional, and generous charity event.

The entire community should, and needs, to keep Officer Caprio, her family, fellow Officers, and friends, in our hearts and minds...

Dear Amy (and Family), 
Although we never met, I feel compelled to reach out and speak to how saddened I have been since your passing.  My heart is broken because you were not only there to protect us and serve us, but you are "US". 

 Being a woman only a few years older, living in the same area that you grew up in, working in the same areas that you worked in, makes it feel so personal.  I am a home health RN, and it makes me feel safe and comforted to know and see there is a police presence around.  Within our community, I go into the unknown every time I meet a new patient, which is several times a week.  The work you did is paramount to the men and women in my field of nursing. 

Our community, and all of the nurses that I associate with at my company all feel a tremendous loss and I wanted to let your family know how grateful we all are.  For the officers like you out there on the street looking out for us. We depend on you and your fellow officers to keep us safe, and you gave your life for that.  Since last Monday, I cannot even think or speak about what has happened without becoming tearful.  Thank you for your service Mrs. Amy Caprio. I will never forget you.

I don’t even know where to begin. I didn’t even know you, and I’ve cried every day for a week. Thank you for being a hero, and for keeping us safe. My prayers are with your spouse, family, friends and co-workers. These are the people who were fortunate enough to know you, and I give them credit for being able to just function right now.

I grew up in Hillendale, Parkville and Perry Hall, so this hits very close to home for me. My wife, kids and I have lived in Parkville for the past 12+ years, and I pass the Parkville police station nearly every day on my way home. I see the memorials by the sign, and it’s heartbreaking. I'm sure our cars passed at some point. My son shares your birthday and turned 13 on the day you would have turned 30. My daughter is the athlete, playing soccer (primarily in the goal) and lacrosse (for Parkville). You are the BEST role model for them. I really can’t thank you enough.

I’m so sorry. I don’t think there are words that accurately convey what most people are thinking and feeling right now. You will never be forgotten.


Small in stature, large in courage.  A guardian of people here on Earth where all is temporary - you made a difference.  You touched our lives and for this you will forever be carried in memories and in the hearts of those who loved you.  No one ever knows when their time here is done, God puts us here for a reason and calls us home when our mission is complete.  We will never understand it but in the brief time we got to know about your life you became important to us and it hurt to let you go.  Trust God needed you Home with Him now and your reunion with family and friends left behind now will be joyous and forever with no more pain or separation.

Thank you for your service and the sacrifice of a truly wonderful life.  You left this short life doing what you loved and making a difference in the lives of your family & community.  You are loved still and will forever be remembered fondly...something all of us would like to be.

I respect everyone who does their best to uphold and exemplify the laws concerning all of humanity, as well as the welfare of beloved family pets and basically all of nature in God's creation. I am deeply sorry for your loss.  We went to school together from Elementary through High school and we were both goalkeepers for LR. I'll never forgot the laughs we shared at practice or senior year when she had to help stretch my bad hip out. Amy was one of the kindest people I have ever known and my heart breaks for you. My heart goes out to all Family, Friends and Coworkers, I am so sorry for your loss. Amy was the first responder to a situation I had less than a month ago. She was very professional, and I could tell she loved her job. Amy will truly be missed , but never forgotten. 

I am so sorry to hear about Amy. She was my lab partner in Chemistry class at Towson University. Though we lost touch over the years I have always remembered what a wonderful person and friend she was. My heart breaks for her and my prayers go out to her family.

Officer/Mrs. Caprio responded to a minor occurrence a week ago at our home. My 1st impression was what a pretty petite officer. We chatted about her growing up not far from our home & my brother, retired Sargent John Lewis, 42 years in Baltimore City.  As she walked away I said "be safe out there officer".  Shocked & saddened to hear this horrific news is an under statement. She paid the ultimate senseless price. Shamed but not shocked by Baltimores juvenile system & Marilyn Mosby.  There is no unbreaking the hearts of those who knew & loved her.  I was a stranger and my heart hurts.  Amy & her families will stay in our prayers.  We Salute You! Please know that all of us in Baltimore reach out to you in sympathy and support for what has happened to Amy. I know it will be difficult to say goodbye when you had hoped to celebrate her birthday this weekend. May it be a comfort to realize that she died doing what she had chosen for herself.  She was valiant and purposeful and true.  God bless you all.

My thoughts and prayers and deeply felt sympathies go to the family and friends of Amy and the men and women of the Baltimore County Police Department.  Amy's sacrifice will long be remembered by all us and by those who follow.  There is a quote to which I often refer in times like these; it is my hope that it provides some comfort during this most difficult of times.  I would like to think it is something Amy would tell us if she could speak to us now.
