ROSS, Richard J. in Marlborough, a long-time resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Monday December 16, 2024 at the age of 95.
Rick was born and raised in Boston. He met his late wife Norma (Torlone) down the Cape, married in 1956 and settled in Roslindale where they raised their two children. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran. He worked as a boilermaker for ACME Industrial Equipment for more than 40 years. He loved working in his garden, growing dahlias and especially tomatoes. He was a devoted Boston Sports fan. He and Norma retired to Norwood where they spent many happy years.
Rick was the beloved husband of 64 years of the late Norma Marie (Torlone) Ross. He was the devoted father of Richard P. Ross and his wife Valerie Carnevale of Salem, and Carolyn R. and her husband Timothy Emmons of Acton. Proud "Pop Rick" of Jeffrey Emmons and his wife Lizzy of Greenwich, Ct., Alison Ross of NYC, and Alyssa Emmons and her fiancee Jake Pilecki of Acton. He adored his great-grandchildren Lilly and Miles Emmons. Rick is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Rick's family wishes to thank the Islam family of Norwood, Betsy of New Horizons, Carrie and Mia at Mary Ann Morse, and everyone at Faith and Family Hospice for their immeasurable help and kindness to Rick in his later years.
Visitation in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Monday December 23, 2024 from 9-10:30 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Flowers are welcome.
