Maryrose (McCafferty) Floyd age 83, of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, surrounded by her family.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of Maryrose’s life. Her unwavering belief and daily devotion were a source of strength, guiding her through both life’s joys and challenges. To her three daughters, she was not just a mother but a best friend - someone who understood, supported, and laughed with them at every turn. Her many lifelong friends would agree that she had a gift for bringing laughter and light everywhere she went.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late George L. McCafferty and Margaret (Burke). Maryrose attended both St. Patrick and St. Thomas Aquinas High schools, having proudly attended both reunions until her later years. She spent many of her younger years working alongside friends at the famous Pleasant Café in Roslindale and would later go on to have a career at Analog Devices. Maryrose would retire and begin her new role as a fulltime “Nana” where she would spend her days taking care of her grandkids and spend her nights at the Cedar Hills golf course alongside friends. Maryrose was a daily communicant and will be remembered for her faith, spirited personality, never ending stories, and her ability to break out into song at any given moment.
Maryrose was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Floyd, and the devoted mother of Suzanne Linehan of Norwood, Michelle and her husband Michael Connolly of Easton, Maura and her husband Timothy Muldoon of Mansfield, and the late Robert M. Floyd, Midshipman, USNA. She was the sister of Elizabeth Ivanoski of Canton, and the late Margaret Kelley, John McCafferty, and George McCafferty. She was the proud grandmother of Kevin and Brendan Linehan, Eva and Stephen Connolly, and Rita, Leo, Myles, Charles, and George Muldoon.
A Visitation will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Saturday, November 9, from 8:30-10 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood at 10:30.
