Of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late William M. Crimmins and Margaret (Kelley) and the beloved sister of the late William J. and Gerald F. Crimmins. Mary worked at Neponset Valley Farms Ice Cream stand during her high school years. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1951 and worked as a telephone operator for AT&T in Boston. Later on, she became a medical secretary and worked for many years at Norwood Hospital in the Nutrition Department as well as the Mass Hospital School in Canton.
Mary is fondly remembered by her family and friends as a caring and loving individual. She had a heart of gold and always had a warm smile for those she came in contact with. She was delighted when she became a grandmother and spent a great deal of time with them including attending all their sporting events. Mary was an avid NE Patriots fan as well as a Boston Red Sox fan and could be seen wearing team clothing around town. She also loved to play cards and visit casinos with her family & friends. Mary will be remembered for her great sense of humor, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
Mary was the devoted mother of David “Rocky” Morse and partner, Kathie Grupposo, of Foxborough, Mary Ellen “Meg” and her husband Andy Poole of Williamsburg VA, and Rita and her husband Albert DeFlaminis, Jr. of Norwood. She also leaves behind her friend, Sue Wicklund, who was special to her. Mary was the proud grandmother to Angela (DeFlaminis) and her husband Brad Maxfield and great grandchildren Meredith, Melody and Mickaela; grandmother to Tracy DeFlaminis and great grandmother to Aubrey Stilwell; grandmother to Eric DeFlaminis and his wife Diana and great grandchildren Evelyn and Daniel; grandmother to Maribeth DeFlaminis and great grandmother to Camden; grandmother to Kelly (Poole) and her husband Nick Schlicher and great grandchildren Brooks and Kenley; grandmother to Elaina (Poole) and her husband Von Robinson; grandmother to David Morse, Jr. and his wife Jaclyn and great grandchildren Madison, Kennedy and Taylor; grandmother to Chris Karacalidis and his wife Kim and great grandchildren Payton, Drew and Ayden; grandmother to John Karacalidis and his wife Megan and great grandchildren Eva, Jack, Ellie and Zoe. She had a total of 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who were her pride & joy.
Services from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Thursday June 1 at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Norwood at 11 AM. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood, followed by a Celebration of Life at Conrad’s Restaurant in Norwood. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday May 31, from 4-7 PM.
