Mary “Mame” Mullaney Frangiosa, 75, passed away peacefully in her Norwood home, November 8, 2020. She was surrounded by loved ones and held on just long enough to watch her beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish win in overtime.
She was born March 23, 1945 in Providence, RI to the late Raymond and Anna (McManus) Mullaney. Mary earned her undergraduate degree from Mount Saint Mary College, in Hookset, NH, and later completed her Masters’ in Education from Rhode Island College. While Mary spent the beginning of her life in Rhode Island, she considered Norwood her true home. She was an integral part of the community and loved everything about living in Norwood.
Mary was passionate about family, faith, education, and football. She taught at multiple elementary schools around Norwood and retired in 2014 after over 30 years of service in the Norwood Public School system. Her educational impact is still felt around Norwood where she is commonly referred to as “Ms. Mullaney” by former students.
Mary joins her late sister Anne Wilkinson and is survived by her loving husband, Angelo Frangiosa; her beloved son Angelo Ray Frangiosa and his wife Tristan Aspri Frangiosa; her niece Dr. Joanne Wilkinson; and a host of beloved cousins, friends, colleagues, and former students.
Her kindness and generosity leaves a profound legacy that will be remembered by all that knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s honor to the Norwood Circle of Hope Foundation, 24 Myrtle Street, Norwood, MA 02062.
Services will be held privately at Waters Church in Norwood with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
