Josephine Loretta Sylvia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2024. Born on December 2, 1932, she was predeceased by her husband Robert, son Gary, sisters Marie D’Amico and Tina Russo, and her nephew Ryan Symons.
Josephine is survived by her son Ken and his wife Patti, her grandsons Joseph and Nicholas, her niece Bonnie Symons, her niece Kellie Hall and her husband Barry, her niece Katie Mann and her husband Rajeev, and her grand-nieces Charlotte Hall and Juliana Mann and grand-nephew Dominick Mann who lovingly knew her as Great-Great-Aunt JoJo.
Josephine was born and raised her family in Port Chester, NY, and later lived in Brookfield, CT, Orlando, FL, and Westminster, MA. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with loved ones on cruises to the Mediterranean, along with trips to Yosemite, San Francisco and Glacier National Park. She spent many summers at their family home in Copake, NY. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and Scrabble, dancing, and cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays when she loved to host. One of her greatest passions was participating in and watching sports, especially her beloved Yankees. An amazing cook, Josephine always made everyone’s favorite dishes, creating lasting memories around the dinner table.
Her warmth, love, and culinary talents will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 10th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT 06905. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 11th, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd. Wilton, CT 06897. Interment will immediately follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St. Westport, CT 06880.
