John S Turchan

TURCHAN, John S. of Norwood after a brief illness, April 7, 2011. Devoted husband of Anne (Kolisnyk) Turchan to whom he was married for 70 years. Loving father of Paul Turchan and his wife Jean of Norwood, John A. Turchan and his wife Felicia of Stoughton, Joanne Stelma and her husband Walter of Harwich and the late Michael Turchan. Dear brother of the late Mary, Rose, Andrew and Olga. Beloved grandfather of Beth Ann, Gregory, Lauren, Keith, Diana , Michael and great grandfather of Jacob, Emma and Sophia. Funeral service at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, Tues. April 12 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home, Mon. April 11, 3-6PM. John worked lfor H.P. Hood and Crescent Ridge Dairy as a truck mechanic. After his retirement he volunteered at Hale Reservation. John was a member of the Norwood Sportsmans Club and the Norwood Tennis Club for many years. He, along with with his wife, taught tennis for the Norwood Recreation Department. John enjoyed fishing and passed along his love for the sport to his sons and grandsons. In his later years, John liked nothing better than a good yard sale often bring home "treasures" to Anne. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John may be made to Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute, 34 Kirkland St., Cambridge, MA 02139 or to St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 24 Orchard Hill Rd., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
