It is with great sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that the family of Timothy Roy Guinn, Sr., age 61, of Norwich, NY shares the heartbreaking news of his unexpected passing. Tim was surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family when he was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 2, 2024.
He was born on November 13, 1962, to Roy Lewis & Philemena Janet (Lauria) Guinn. He attended various schools in the surrounding area, but always felt most at home on the baseball fields and basketball courts. His love of sports extended far beyond his school years; as he very much enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports, and he was also an avid NY Mets and Syracuse basketball fan.
On April 19, 1980, Tim married the love of his life, Annette; and shortly thereafter, started their family. He later enlisted in the US Army and completed his basic training in Ft. Benning, Georgia, finishing his term in South Korea and Waipahu, Hawaii before returning to Norwich, NY. He spent most of his career working as the Terminal Manager for Howard’s Express/Rist Transport in the Norwich and Utica offices.
Tim had a strong passion in his Christian faith and frequently attended Sovereign Grace Community Church in Norwich. He also had a love for music and enjoyed spending his time antiquing and adding to his extensive collection of vinyl records. Influenced by his service in the military, he had a deep love for his country, a strong interest in politics, and was always prepared for a passionate conversation or an intense political debate.
Tim is survived by his wife of 44+ years, Annette Guinn; his children, Amy (Richard II) Winton, Tiffany (Scott) Alger, Timothy, Jr. (Jennifer) Guinn, Shawna (Ryan) Wright, Jackie (Michael) Grant; his grandchildren, Lillian (Brandon) Fink, Chloe Winton, Keegan Franklin, Dylan Alger, Logan Grant, Alyssa Alger, Kameran Franklin, Noah Chesebro, Bodie Guinn, Luke Chesebro, & Mason Grant; and his siblings, Sheila (Joseph) Jenne, Marlene Chin, Rhonda (Bryce) Wehner, Kenneth (Brandi) Guinn, and Ann Phillips. He is pre-deceased by his father Roy Guinn, mother Philemena (Phyllis) Guinn Tufts, brother-in-law Gregory Chin, and sister-in-law Sun Cole.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 5-7pm at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich, NY. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church, 10 W. Park Place Norwich, NY, with a luncheon to follow.
