Rose Marie Conant, 78, formerly of Silver St. Norwich, was taken by the Lord in the early morning hours of May 18th at Norwich Rehabilitation Center. Rose was born on July 10, 1942, the daughter of Sebastian and Sarah (Aria) Ciminata. Rose grew up on Maydole St. in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School in 1960.
On April 4, 1964, she married Rex Conant in Otego, NY and they spent 38 years together and raised eight children. Rose was employed for many years at Norwich Pharmacal Company (later became P&G), retiring in 2001. Rose was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed long drives, garage sales and spending time with her family.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Wendy and Rodney Oakley, of Plymouth; Sandra Conant, of Oxford; and Ariel Conant, of Oneonta; her sons, Mark and Rhonda Conant, of Oxford; Eric and Kathryn Conant, of Plymouth; William and Carol Conant, of Wallingford, CT; and David and Jody Conant, of Plymouth; her daughter in law, Teresa Conant, of Norwich; her sister in law, Lucy Conant, of Norwich; her brother in law, Joe Belush, of Earlville; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Rex Conant; her son, Brian Conant; her parents; her mother in law, Myrtie Conant; her sister, Josephine Belush; and her brothers and sisters in law, Theodore Conant, Erford and Betty Conant, and Earl and Gerry Conant.
A funeral service for Rose will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 25th, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. with Pastor Mark Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
