She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 14, 1942. Her parents, Robert A. Montagne and Jeanette (Hatton) Montagne predeceased her, along with her husband Bruce F. Ackermann, great-granddaughter Brittney Keanna Scriver, and daughter-in-law Debra Marino-Ackermann, her aunt Barbara E. Klein-Hatton and uncle Morton Hatton.
Bobbie and Bruce were high school sweethearts and married in 1960. They are survived by their six children, Daniel, Thomas (Beth), Patricia Carr (Steven), Timothy, Kathleen Wellman (LaMott) and Richard (Sheryl), plus 23 grandchildren,48 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Bobbie attended Morrisville College and graduated with a Liberal Arts degree. She was a member of the Ladie’s Auxiliary for the Valley Stream Fire Department. She owned Bobbie’s Dance Boutique in Norwich and was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, the Ava Maria Guild, the church choir and volunteered with numerous church funeral luncheons and fund raisers. She and her husband Bruce were actively involved with the Civil War Roundtable Group of Norwich. She supported the local community as a tutor for Literacy Volunteer of Chenango County for many years.
Her biggest joy was that of her family. She loved attending school and sporting activities of her grandchildren, celebrating birthdays, weddings and new additions to the family, cake decorating, and line dancing. She will be remembered for putting the needs of others before herself.
A memorial service for Roberta will take place at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 20, 2024 at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich, with Fr. Ralph Bove officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
