He was born on January 20, 1959 in Bronx, NY, moved to Mahopac, NY and graduated from Mahopac High School.
After graduating from high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Army, 101st Airborne division, in which he served from 1977 to 1979. During his military service, he was awarded the Air Assault Infantry Badge and the M16 Rifle Expert Badge.
Following his discharge from the military, Paul served as an officer of the Town of Carmel, NY Police Department and worked for Norstar Investigations. In his service to the Town of Carmel Police Department, he was awarded as the top performing STOP DWI officer for the mid-Hudson region in the years 2003 and 2004 plus numerous other accolades and commendations during his police career.
After moving to Chenango County, Paul served as the Plymouth Town Justice, during which time he was a member of the Chenango County Magistrates Association. He also served as a member and president of the Otselic Valley Central School Board during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years.
In his leisure time, Paul greatly enjoyed coaching basketball, and was a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. He enjoyed a good joke and enjoyed playing practical jokes on others. He also had a great love for animals of all kinds, and kept numerous kinds of pets.
Paul loved being with people, and enjoyed getting to meet and know people from all walks of life; he loved his country, as evidenced by his military service and his service in law enforcement; and he dearly loved his family, and he always looked after his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by more people than he could have realized.
Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolina (Ogden) O’Connor and their children: Ashley Corinne O’Connor, and Kyle Patrick O’Connor and his companion, Theresa Schiotis. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carolina Ogden; sisters-in-law, Kristina (Connie) Ogden and Lisa (Kista) Ogden; brother-in-law, Theodore Ogden Jr.; nephews, Ryan and Riess; niece, Nichole; and his feline companion, “Little Man.”
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Theodore Ogden Sr.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St., Norwich, on Saturday, January 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
