Deanna J. Snell, 81, of Sherburne, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Norwich and was the adopted daughter of Robert and Julia (Miller) Sisson of Gilbertsville.
On May 6, 1962, she married Charles E. Snell, Sr., of Norwich. Both were members of the Moose Club. Their children are Charles E. Snell, Jr. (Synthia), Connie Snell (Bob Miske), and Tammy Burroughs.
Over the years, Deanna made her living at the Norwich Knitting Mill, The Norwich Shoe Company, and last but not least, New York Central Mutual. She enjoyed crafting and hosting garage sales as well as attending craft fairs and going to garage sales. Other hobbies and interests were cake decorating, humming birds, gardening and puzzles.
Along with her children, Deanna is survived by her step children, Calvin (Judy) Snell,Doreen (Mark) Petrush, and Dianna Tanksley; her grandchildren, Cynthia Snell, Ben Snell, Marissa Miske, Daniel Burroughs, Jamie Snell, Dawn Snell, Adam Snell, Matt Snell, Derrick Petrush, Valerie Reed, Jennifer Banda, Felicia Tanksley, Alex Cloy, and her adopted granddaughter, Gemma Snell; her great-grandchildren, Thomas (Lorelia) Lyons, Cameron Johnson, Sierra Santiago Ballard, Joshua Snell, Emily Snell, Kylie Snell, Wyatt Snell, Theodore Snell, Maryjane Burroughs, Sky Burroughs, Hector Hernandez, Jr., Patience Harrington, Amanda Harby, Connor Harby, Nathan Harby, Cody Keppen, Amber Keppen, Kaylee Snell, Carter Snell, Morgandy Reed, Colton Reed, Tyler Rodriguez, Majed Banda, Jasmine Anderson, David Cloy, and Michael Cloy; her very first great-great grandson, Archer Wade Lyons; her brothers, Bill (Inga) Thompson, and Percy Thompson; as well as her sister, Linda Simpson.
Deanna was predeceased by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Connie; her granddaughter, Aimee; her sister, Barb Thompson; and her brothers, Leslie Thompson, Robert Thompson, Harold Sisson, Zeke Sisson and his wife, Ruth.
A graveside service for Deanna will take place at 1:00pm on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich with Pastor Joel Weck officiating. A gathering to remember her life will take place at the Norwich Elks Club, 14 E. Main St. Norwich on Monday from 2:00-4:00pm.
