Chris was born in Norwich on November 14, 1966 the son of Carl and Verna (Dolan) Olson. He was a 1984 graduate of the Norwich High School where he was very active in the school band program. Eager to further his education, Chris attended Syracuse University where he graduated in 1988 with his Bachelors of Science Degree. While attending SU he was also a member of the University’s band program. In 1986 he was privileged to be chosen to be a member of the band who would play at the Bicentennial of the Statue of Liberty. Upon his graduation from SU he gained employment with the Unatego School District. His thirst for knowledge led him to the Bouuee College of Pharmacy &Health Sciences eventually earning his Masters of Education form Northeastern University in 1994. Chris also earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Northeastern in 1994. With his education behind him Chris returned to the Unatego School District as the school psychologist. He then moved on to the Highland, NY school district where he taught math and science. Chris then accepted a position with the Ossining School District as Asst. Principal of the Elementary School and then onto Asst. Principal of the Ossining High School.
Chris was always there for his students. He was a mentor to many and was involved with the schools Robotic Team. While living in Beacon he was a volunteer member of the Beacon Ambulance Squad as an E.M.T. and also served as the president of the association. Always interested in politics, especially now, he was an active member of the Republican Committee in Beacon.
Chris is survived by his mother Verna of Norwich and his cousins Suzanne Wightman and husband Walt of Inglis, FL, Sharon Russell and husband Pete of Cayuga, NY, Shelly Wood and husband Mike of Bridgeport, NY, Bruce Shepard and wife Tammy, Mike Dolan and Dorothy Manwarren all of Norwich.
Chris was predeceased by his father Carl Olson.
A PRIVATE service for Chris will be held from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
