He was born in Northbridge, MA on Jan. 28, 1937 to Walter D. and Sofia (Bombera) Szocik. He served in the National Guard and at Electric Boat for 31 years in the foundry, as a pipefitter and retiring as a rigger.
Wally was united in marriage to Sandra (Richardson) on Sept. 29, 1961. She survives him.
Wally is known for his green thumb owning and operating Happy Acres Farm in Preston with his wife. He was an active and involved parishioner at St. James Episcopal Church in Poquetanuck, CT, especially its fish fry. He was also known to spend his time playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, his son; Walter Jr and his wife Jewelly, daughter; Sandy and husband Stephen, brother; Daniel Szocik, sister; Janet Fair, grandchildren; Elizabeth, Rebecca, Deven, Mason and Ricky and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Donald.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at 2pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 95 CT-2A, Preston, CT 06365, with burial immediately following at Poquetanuck Cemetery.
